Over 800 Neighbors Showed Up At Recent Salmon Bake In The Park

Folks from Seattle Parks and Recreation includng Magnuson Community Center and the Laurelhurst Advisory Council sent us an update about the recent Salmon Bake held at Laurelhurst Park.

This is the first year the Salmon Bake was not put on by the regular Laurehurst Community Staff, which was disbanded in January due to citywide budget cuts. This year Lifelong Recreation, Specialized Programs, and Laurelhurst Advisory Councils, Magnuson Community Center and Community Kitchens partnered to put on this popular annual event.

The event this year, was nonetheless a huge success with over 800 people attending and over 600 dinners served to the community.

A local jazz band provided lively entertained and the popular Kids Carnival was enjoyed by lots and lots of children.

The generous sponsors include Aljoya Senior Residence (Northgate), Metropolitan Market, Great Harvest Bakery, Full Circle Farms and Taylor Shellfish Company (Melrose Market).

Over 30 community volunteers worked that day to make the event such a big success for the community.

The Paks and Recreation staff would like to give a special thanks to the Laurelhurst Community Club who recruited numerous volunteers.
