Flagship Restoration Hardware Store Likely New Tenant In 4 Story University Village Building Under Construction

The Laurelhurst Blog received several emails following yesterday's post about a 4 story building under construction at the University Village.

The UVillage General Manager told the Blog Staff  that:
The large building next to Pottery Barn Kids will be a single tenant, to be announced soon. It is not a parking garage.
The new retailer will plan to announce in February.

City Permits on file for the large space at 4645 26th Ave NE., including Project # 3015887, state that it will be "a 4-story building with 45,352 sq. ft. of retail space."

Another permit on file for the same building, Project # 6512396, says "SHOP DRAWINGS** Stair shop drawings for RHG Tenant."

The Laurelhurst Blog had speculated "RHG Tenant" meant Restoration Hardware Group.

After yesterday's post several Blog readers sent emails saying that most likely it was going to be the flagship Restoration Hardware Store.

And one reader sent a link showing design renderings pictured above.

Here are emails received:
The new construction in U Village is for the new Flagship Restoration Hardware Store. It's possible that William Sonoma will move into the current Restoration Hardware site, so they can be with "sister stores," Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn Kids.

FYI- I heard from a good source that the new structure is a multi floor Restoration Hardware store. We shall see when the signs go on it.

I've been told by employees at the UVillage that Restoration Hardware is likely taking over that larger space in the new building and bringing in their teen line.  I'm not sure if they're keeping the old space as well.

Seattle in Progress calls the new structure the "Gateway Building" right at the west entrance to the mall.  The designs show a rooftop terrace with a metal roof and trellis. More specific designs show specific plants and a "plant palette" as well as a South Plaza and North Plaza

There are also several permits on file for a new business at the old Red Mango site that was recently demolished. One permit, Project # 6488295 says "Demolition commercial building at university village (#53 - Red Mango), subject to field inspection (STFI)."

And another permit on file, Project # 6490529 says "Establish use as general retail sales and service, construct retail building and occupy, per plans."

The UVillage General Manager told the Blog Staff:
The smaller building, where Red Mango was, will be a small store opening this summer and they will also likely announce in early Spring. This is also retail only and not a parking structure.

Yesterday a Blog reader sent an email saying: "I was told Warby Parker is coming to UVillage."  Perhaps this business will go into that vacant site or another one.
