4-story building under construction
at University Village
The Laurelhurst Blog Staff has received several emails asking what the new tall structure is under construction at the University Village, next to Pottery Barn and across from Starbucks.
The Blog Staff contacted the UVillage General Manager who said:
Two buildings are currently under construction. The large building next to Pottery Barn Kids will be a single tenant, to be announced soon. It is not a parking garage.
The smaller building, where Red Mango was, will be a small store opening this summer and they will also likely announce in early Spring.The new retailer will plan to announce in February. This is also retail only and not a parking structure.
The Blog Staff found several permits on file for the larger space at 4645 26th Ave NE., including Project # 3015887, a Land Use Application, that says "to allow a 4-story building with 45,352 sq. ft. of retail space".
Another permit on file for the same 4-story building says, Project # 6512396, says "SHOP DRAWINGS** Stair shop drawings for RHG Tenant."
Several permits on file for the new structure related to the new business replacing Red Mango, including Project # 6488295 that says "Demolition commercial building at university village (#53 - Red Mango), subject to field inspection (STFI)." And Project # 6490529 that says "Establish use as general retail sales and service, construct retail building and occupy, per plans."
