Heavy Planters Stolen Off Porch Last Night

We live on the 3800 block of 42nd Avenue NE and sadly, I have more property crime to report happening in the neighborhood.   

This morning, we walked out our front door to find the two large planters on our front steps had both been stolen.  These are large, heavy planters, so clearly the theft was planned. They're too heavy to have just randomly run off with.  

This happened sometime between 11:30pm and 7:30am last night. It's a fairly sad state of affairs when people are stealing flower planters, but it just goes to show that you always need to be on the look out for suspicious people in our neighborhoods.   

And unfortunately, the property crime problem in our neighborhood only appears to be increasing.   

I've sent photos of the planters in case anyone spots them, but more as an illustration of just how far thieves are going these days.

Yet Another Planter Stolen And Other Stolen Planters Returned

We live on the 4800 block of NE 42nd Street, between 48th Avenue NE and 50th Avenue NE.   

We had a stone planter with Tall Lemon Cyprus plant stolen off our front walkway some time between Wednesday night, May 18 and Thursday morning, May 19th.  

I hope whomever took our planters will return them. I have no photo of the planter and plant but am including a photo of the empty whitened area where the planter stood for many years. 

I truly hope we get the planter and plant returned.   

I filled out a police report and contacted the NE Seattle police representative who deals with crimes in our area.

And some good news, two large, heavy planters that were stolen from a porch on the 3800 block of 42nd Avenue NE two weeks ago have been returned.  Here is the original Laurelhurst Blog post detailing the theft.

The owner just told the Laurelhurst Blog:

To the many kind and concerned neighbors who have reached out to us about the planter theft on May 19th, we would like to update you that the two stolen planters were returned during a very short (15 minute) period mid-morning on Thursday (5/26).   

The planters themselves, and what's left of the damaged plants in them, are much worse for the wear, but we're hoping to be able to rejuvenate what's left over time.   

We are frankly at a loss for an explanation, and don't know whether to feel better they were returned, or worse that it may have been the thief back at our house.   

We're working with a couple of neighbors who have provided some information to piece together the events, but if anyone else saw anything potentially unusual either last Thursday night or this morning, please contact laurelhurstblogger@gmail.com.

Another Planter Taken Off Porch

We’re at 48th Avenue NE and NE 40th Street and our hanging basket was snatched from above our front porch on NE 40th Street, some time between Friday and Saturday afternoon.   

It’s a sentimental loss, both because it was a Mother’s Day gift and because we like to brighten the view for passers by.   

We hope it was a random snatch, not part of a larger trend of petty thefts in the neighborhood.  

I saw the post about the missing planters after I sent my notice — sounds like we have plant-nappers on the loose!  Thanks for keeping us all informed.

 

More Plants Taken Of Porch

The Laurelhurst Blog has received another report of plants stolen from a front porch. 

These are in addition to the two other reported incidents, including one about a hanging basket that was taken and this incident where two heavy planters were taken.

A resident reported this incident recently:

A flat of geraniums and two somethings else were stolen off our front wall three weeks ago. We are in the 3000 block of East Laurelhurst Drive.   

There's a bad nature person loose in our neighborhood.

 

Garden Art Stolen From Yard

The Laurelhurst Blog received this information:

We live on the 3800 block of 42nd Avenue NE and on October 1, a metal and stone sculpture of a heron that was in our garden was stolen.  

We had also had 2 large koi stole from our yard in the winter that were also taken.  

Neighbors to the north of us on the same street had a metal decorative multiple pot holder garden ornament, which was also stolen from their yard this summer.   

And further south on the same street neighbors had multiple large full planters stolen.   

Have there been a rash of these? Is there anything that can be done? I filed a police report  but don’t know what else to do.

I would appreciate some advice.
