Spring Egg Hunt Draws Hundreds Of Kids

Cara Brown, Recreation Coordinator, at the Laurelhurst Community Center, shared this information about Saturday's egg hunt:

Hundreds of kids along with their families enjoyed the morning hunting for eggs, playing field games such as the bunny hop and egg relay, and visiting with neighbors.  

Kids in 4 age groups dashed for 4500 eggs, filled by generous volunteers and staff, and scooped up close to 1000 other goodies. 

Thank you to everyone who supported our event with donations, canned food and supporting our bake sale fundraiser. 

I would also like to thank the 30 teens who volunteered to help during the event.  We cannot offer these events without such support.

Saturday Annual Spring Egg Hunt

The annual Spring Egg Hunt is coming up on Saturday starting at 10am sharp at the Laurelhurst park for ages 12 and under. 

Over 4,000 plastic eggs stuffed with toys, stickers and candy will be scattered, as well as treats. Some eggs will have a special ticket to win a prize basket or other surprise. Kids are divided by age group. Following the event there will be field games.

Help support our can food drive to assist our local food bank and our bake sale (cash or check only) to support the community center programs.  

Plan to arrive no later than 9:45 a.m.

Volunteers, Eggs And Candy Needed For March Egg Hunt At Park

Student and Community Volunteers are needed for the Laurelhurst Spring Egg Hunt

Are you looking for a fun way to get involved in your community? Or a great opportunity for students to earn volunteer service hours for school? 

The Laurelhurst Community Center is looking for students and community members to help hide eggs, hold age group signs and direct people at our annual egg hunt on March 31st from 8:30-11:30am.  

If you are unable to volunteer but would still like to help, please donate candy and plastic eggs on Mondays and Wednesdays 9am-8pm or Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays 9am-2pm.

Candy Donations Needed For Spring Egg Hunt Next Week

 

 

 

Coming in a week, on April 4th at 10am, will be the very popular Spring Egg Hunt at Laurelhurst park for ages 12 and under.

 Donations of individually wrapped candy to fill the eggs and small items for the prize baskets are being accepted at the Community Center 9-2pm.

Neighborhood Spring Egg Hunt Draws Big Crowd





Last Sunday's Spring Egg Hunt was a big success with over 4000 eggs scattered through out the park along with loose candy and treats for kids up to age twelve and over 450 people that showed up.

Cara, Recreation Coordinator, told us that they were able to stuff 1,000 more eggs than last year due to the numerous volunteers and staff as well as the neighborhood residents who donated candy and eggs. 

 

Maxwell Meals donated all the baked goods which resulted in a successful bake sale fundraiser.  Cara told us that the funds will be used to help off-set the cost of the egg hunt and to support other community center programs.

 

Jennifer, with Food Driving Box, was also pleased with the hundreds of pounds of non-perishable food that was donated and later delivered to the University District Food bank to feed hungry neighbors in our community.

"Thank you to everyone and we look forward to next year's egg hunt!" Cara told us.

Cara, Recreation Coordinator at the Laurelhurst Community Center, let us know that they are still in need of individually wrapped candy and plastic egg donations for the annual spring Egg Hunt on March 30th at 10am.

 

Drop your candy or eggs off at the Community Center by tomorrow. Hours today and tomorrow are 9am-2pm.

Candy, Prizes And Volunteers Needed For Upcoming April Egg Hunt At Community Center

Coming in just a few weeks, on April 7th at 10am, will be the very popular Spring Egg Hunt at Laurelhurst park for ages 12 and under.

And to make it as successful as past years, Cara Brown, the new Recreation Coordinator, is soliciting donations of candy to fill the eggs and and small items for the prize baskets. Cara also is looking for volunteers to help during the event.  Interested high School students will get volunteer credit.

Last year's hunt was a huge success thanks to the many volunteers who contributed candy and their own time in helping to organize and staff the event.  Over 200 eager kids filled their baskets with candy and small toys.

Cara told us that candy donations should be individually wrapped and fit in the plastic eggs.   Items for the prize baskets for ages 3 and under should not pose a choking hazard and for ages 4-10 could be such items as chocolate bunnies, sidewalk chalk, stuffed bunnies, any leftover birthday party prizes that people may have around the house such as bubbles, etc. 

Candy can be dropped off at the Community Center  Monday – Friday between 9-2pm by March 26th and prize items until a few days before the event.
