Here are current construction projects:
Concrete Pours for Sidewalks and Stairs at Hospital
Construction crews are continuing to work on the modified Emergency Department (ED) driveway and drop-off area, located on the west side of the hospital near 40th Avenue NE, through November 7th. Crews will pour concrete and form new sidewalks and stairs that will connect the ED with the sidewalk along 40th Avenue. Concrete mixing trucks will be on site during that time, and normal levels of construction noise are expected. The work is weather-dependent, so the dates are subject to change in the event of poor weather.
Excavation and Concrete Pours for New Sign
Seattle Children’s is planning to install a new Emergency Department sign on the east side of 40th Avenue NE, just north of NE 45th Street. A construction crew will excavate for the new sign’s footings, then crews will pour the sign footings in concrete. Parking will not be permitted on the east side of 40th Avenue just north of 45th Street during the construction periods, and the sidewalk in that area will be closed. Flaggers will help direct pedestrians around the closed portion. A vacuum truck and a concrete truck will be present. Noise from these activities will be generated during the hours noted above. The sign will be installed at a later date.
Crews will saw cut and remove portions of existing asphalt and curbs to install stormwater pipes and a manhole. The work area will be within the construction fence.
Asphalt Installation at Hospital
Construction crews are continuing to work on the modified Emergency Department driveway and drop-off area, located on the west side of the hospital near 40th Avenue NE. Crews will place asphalt for the drop-off area, which will create standard construction noise and some odor.
Prefabrication Work at Hospital
Construction crews will use an area within the old shuttle hub, near 40th Avenue NE and the Forest smoking shelter, for prefabricating certain items that will be used during Building Care construction activities. The area will be fenced and will be used until early December. The prefabrication work that occurs in this area will produce normal levels of construction noise during standard working hours.
