NEST (Northeast Seattle Together) (5751 33rd Avenue NE) which supports Northeast Seattle elder neighbors through a network of volunteers and vendors, is continuing its free NEST Café series today at 2pm at the Magnuson Brig (6344 NE 74th Street, Room 406 )with a presentation called "Nineteen to Ninety: Communicating with Humans of All Ages."
The information says:
Most of us experience intergenerational communication gaps, whether at work, at play or in our families. The mindset of much younger or much older people can feel like foreign territory with a different language. Ignoring generational differences is not an option in modern urban life, in which the generations mix so freely.
This presentation describes the world view, built upon experience, of each American generation since WWII. The presentation and discussion aim to increase understanding, decrease assumptions and possibly move us toward more tolerant attitudes and positive communication.
NEST is a non-profit grassroots operation serving NE Seattle seniors by creating a "virtual village" to helping them be able to stay in their own homes and neighborhoods they love. Volunteers provide companionship, care, as well as help seniors with a wide range of services, including gardening, computer help and more. to seniors aging in their homes. Ongoing classes (fitness, etc) are also offered, as well as access to events, transportation services, and various services (such as estate planners) who provide their services at a discount to members.
