Tonight Design Review Meeting On Proposed Empress Senior Living Across From Metropolitan Market

Tonight at 6:30pm, the City's Northeast Design Review Board is meeting about the proposed retirement home, Empress Senior Living, at 4020 NE 55th Street, where the Hawthorne Hills Veterinary Hospital, across the street from Metropolitan Market.

The meeting will be held at the Good Shepherd Center in Room #202 (4649 Sunnyside Avenue North).

The public is invited to attend the meeting to provide comments regarding important site planning and design issues that should be addressed in the design of this project.  Or comments can be emailed to prc@seattle.gov.

The proposed retirement home,  Permit #3025827, includes 3 stories of approximately 73 units with 3,100 square feet of commercial space, including a restaurant, and parking for approximately 30 vehicles located below grade. The existing structure would be demolished.  The architect has proposed 3 different alternatives which can be seen here.

At tonight's Design Review Board Recommendation meeting, the following will occur:
  1. The applicant will present information about the proposed design and how it responds to the Design Review Guideline priorities established at the previous Early Design Guidance meeting(s).
  2. The public may offer comments regarding the proposed design.*
  3. The Design Review Board will offer their recommendations regarding the design to SDCI.
  4. Following the meeting, SDCI will issue a written Recommendation report summarizing the meeting. This report will be sent to those who signed in at the meeting or otherwise requested a copy.
