Help NEST, Virtual Village For Seniors, On Saturday With Preparing For Upcoming Launch

NEST (North East Seattle Together), a non-profit grassroots operation serving NE Seattle seniors by creating a "virtual village" to helping them be able to stay in their own homes and neighborhoods they love, launches May1st to the public and at that time members can receive the full range of NEST services.

The cost is $55 a month for individuals or $600 annually. A two person household can join for $85 monthly, or $900 a year.

NEST uses volunteers to provide companionship and care to seniors aging in their homes and the non-profit was just named to the list of "10 Fun Family Volunteering Opportunities" in and around Seattle by ParentMap.

Included in the benefits to members of NEST are community volunteers who help in providing a wide range of services to seniors (yard work, gardening, computer assistance, etc) and ongoing classes (fitness, etc) and events, transportation services, and various services (such as estate planners) will provide their services as a discount to members.

To get ready for the launch, the public is invited on Saturday from 10:30-12 at the Northeast Public Library branch (6801 35th Ave. N.E),  to join NEST members, volunteers and the board of directors "in an old-fashioned effort to let neighbors - just those on your block - know about NEST.  You can pass out NEST postcards to neighbors anytime between April 28th  and May 5th.  This meeting is a chance to get to know each other and get more information about this campaign."
