The Laurelhurst Community Center is offering a new PEE WEE Basketball League for ages 4-7 years old. The fee is $65 and runs January 9th to February 27th.
Cara, Community Center Recreation Coordinator told the Blog Staff that this is a new program and a lot of parents that have registered so far are excited to see it locally in the neighborhood rather than having to travel to Montlake, as that was the only Community Center offering basketball to that age group.
Cara added "We are hoping to have enough kids register so that we don’t have to cancel it."
This league is a great way to introduce our young players to basketball in a non-competitive atmosphere where playing, learning and having fun are most important!
Participants are divided into teams according to age groups. Volunteer coaches encourage the basics of the sport and team work. Each participant receives a team t-shirt. Practice and game times vary and are played back to back on Saturdays at Laurelhurst Elementary School gym. Practice will be 30 minutes, followed by a 30 minute game. Specific practice and game time TBD.
Volunteer Coaches are needed. Call the Community Center at 206-684-7529 or email Timothy.barr@seattle.gov if you are interested.
Register by calling 206-684-7529 or go online and use barcode #142928 for 4-5 years and #142929 for6-7 year olds. You can also register in person at the Laurelhurst Community Center (4554 NE 41st Street).
