Upcoming SR520 and I-90 Week-end Closures

Here is some helpful information travelling over bridges the next 2 week-ends. Not that not both lanes are closed in either direction on both bridges in order to keep traffic flowing:

SR 520 and I-90 tag team for weekend closures to keep traffic flowing Going east across the lake this Sunday? Take I-90. Going west? Take SR 520 SR 520 will be closed in one direction over the next two weekends, as crews working on the West Approach Bridge North Project continue to make modifications to the 24th Avenue East overpass in Seattle’s Montlake neighborhood. The work on the 24th Avenue overpass allows crews to stay on schedule for opening up a new westbound SR 520 off-ramp to East Lake Washington Boulevard. To safely remove the highway crossing’s existing sidewalk and railing, crews will close SR 520 lanes below the area where they are working. Instead of closing all SR 520 lanes for one weekend, crews will close one direction at a time for the next two weekends. These closures mirror I-90 weekend closures so that drivers will be able to cross Lake Washington on one bridge or the other, depending on the direction: This Sunday, Dec. 6, eastbound SR 520 and westbound I-90 will close Next Sunday, Dec. 13, westbound SR 520 and eastbound I-90 will close Closure details Weekend of Dec. 4 – 7 All lanes and ramps of eastbound SR 520 between Montlake Boulevard and 92nd Avenue Northeast will be closed from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 6. During this weekend, westbound I-90 will be reduced to one lane near Bellevue Way Southeast, with traffic rerouted to the express lanes from 11 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 7, to continue construction of transit and HOV lanes.   Weekend of Dec. 11 – 14 All lanes and ramps of westbound SR 520 between Montlake Boulevard and 92nd Avenue Northeast will be closed from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 13. Construction schedules are subject to change and closure hours may be adjusted depending on work completed on Sunday, Dec. 6. We will send an update next week with confirmed closure hours. Eastbound I-90 will be reduced to one lane near Rainier Avenue South, with traffic rerouted to the express lanes from 11 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 14, to continue construction of transit and HOV lanes.
