Registration started last week for summer camps offered at the Laurelhurst Community Center.

You can register in person at the Community Center from 9-2pm Monday through Friday or by calling 206-684-7529. Or you can also register on-line.

Cara recommends registering soon in the case that the camp you are interested is cancelled due to low enrollment.

Here is the list of summer camps including soccer, sewing, pottery, basketball, art, and more:

Summer Art Camp

Ages 4-7
A fun-filled morning as children explore the many different formats of art, including watercolor, print making, and much more. Class is drop-off, but parents and caregivers are welcome to stay.

Fashion Camp

Ages 8-12
Create your own fashion brand! Explore how fashion designers find inspiration and learn about various areas of the industry, including merchandising, retailing, and designing. Participants will take home the skills, inspiration, and motivation to pursue their dreams and make a name for themselves in the fashion industry. We will be designing a t-shirt and a bag, including dying and printing fabric. Please dress for mess. Please have the students bring the following to camp each day: Snack and water Optional: Sewing machine, sewing scissors, old and new fashion magazines that can be cut up.

Baking Camp

Ages 6-12
Join us for a fun-filled week of baking! Kids will have the opportunity to design their own cakes and learn about party
themes. Participant will learn how to read recipes, and shop for ingredients. There will be a baking showcase at the end of each week.

Mega Dance Camp!

Ages 5-10
Don’t miss this exciting kids’ Mega Dance Camp! Come explore the world of dance through jazz, ballet, and creative dance.  Each day students will learn technique, combinations, dance routines, and other fun activities. All levels of experience are invited to participate, as the students will be challenged at their own individual levels. Guests will be invited to watch a mini-performance during the last day. Please wear close-fitting clothing with bare feet, ballet shoes, or jazz shoes. Bring a water bottle and snack each day.

Pottery Camp

Ages 6-12
In this class kids will learn pinch-pot, coil, slab, wheel throwing, and glazing techniques. Each day we will introduce new projects, such as musical instruments, undersea creatures, bowls, plates, and more. Bring your imagination and enjoy all the creativity clay has to offer.

Sewing For Kids Camp

Ages 7-11
This fun, hands-on class offers beginning sewers a chance to get acquainted with basic fabric cutting, measuring skills, and basic hand stitching. All materials will be provided to complete a stuffed “Crazy Critter”. However, if you have scrap fabric you would like to turn into something new bring that along. It’s also a good idea to bring your personal fabric scissors.

Tennis Camp

Serving the basic ace, hitting a forehand, backhand short and cross court, volleying, and net action are just some of the skills your camper will learn during this fun filled week. Basketball Camp

It’s time to play and learn the drills and skills you really need to be a good player on and off the court.  Participants will have fun while learning the basics of dribbling, passing, and shooting. Learn how to set the perfect pick and roll,
as well as the benefits of a zone vs. man-on-man defense.

U.K. Petite Soccer Camp

Ages 3-5
UK Petite Soccer is an introduction to soccer for the 3-5 year old age range. We use a games based approach to teach the fundamentals of soccer in a high energy, fun learning environment. All trainers are professional UK Elite coaches.  Programs last 6 weeks and include a UK Petite t-shirt and certificate.

All-Sport Camp

Ages 6-12
Allows campers to experience a variety of competitive and noncompetitive outdoor sports and games. Children will be
exposed to a wide variety of exciting alternative sports including Frisbee, kickball, and lacrosse. Excited staff will teach and practice the fundamentals of soccer, basketball and t-ball. Loads of games will be played including Capture the Flag, Soak ‘em, Kick the Can, Treasure Island and many other favorites.
