Registration is underway for a variety summer camps at  the Laurelhurst Community Center. including S.T.E.M Camps, LEGO® Robotics Camps, Sports Camps, Science Camps, Pottery Camps, Writing and Carpentry Camps.

MAD SCIENCE: CREATIVE CONTRAPTIONS AGES 6-11

Each day campers are given a series of challenges which they overcome using basic materials, simple machines, tips from

famous inventors and their mind! With a little bit of ingenuity, they’ll construct catapults and forts and then lay siege, fabricate innovative flying

contraptions, and design their own gizmo prototypes.

Are you a new cook that loves Italian cuisine? This camp teaches techniques and essential Italian ingredients as each day! Bakers will leave with knowledge and skills to bake wholesome, nutritional, and sustainable food at home.  We make 2 recipes each day to enjoy. Students will leave with the ability to cook wholesome Italian food at home. Accommodations for dietary restrictions upon request.

The camps, which enroll 8 campers per session, are taught by Mr. Phillip, who has been teaching at the Community Center Pre-K program for the past two years and  the last year has been  the lead teacher of the program. He has also been a staff member of the Laurelhurst Elementary Laser after-school program for several years, according to the Community Center Coordinator.

Ages 5-10

Kids Carpentry is a hands-on toy building camp designed to teach girls and boys practical woodworking skills with an emphasis on the safe use of hand tools. While kids construct fun and exciting projects they are also empowered to become independent thinkers-building confidence, self-esteem and a repertoire of practical skills that will last them a lifetime. At the end of camp kids can expect to go home with three or more toys or games that they have made and painted by hand.
