Car Prowl Just East Of Laurelhurst Park

We received this email from a reader:

We on live on NE 43rd Street, just east of the park. On Sunday, October 28 at 1:30 AM, my husband was getting ready for bed when our dog barked and then he heard a car door being closed. He looked out our front window and saw a male exiting our Suburban parked on the street. Another male was looking in the windows of our other vehicle.
In total, there were around 5 white teenagers who then headed up the street toward Laurelhurst Park. My husband quickly put on his shoes on to follow them up to the park. By the time he caught up, he saw headlights go on and the vehicles exited the parking lot but he can’t say for sure if they belonged to the thieves.
We believe our vehicle was probably left unlocked by accident as we had emptied the trunk of sporting gear in the pouring rain during the day. From the wet footprints in the car, it looked like the thieves had entered through the trunk and then rifled through the entire car.
Luckily, they were only able to find and steal minor items like a phone charger. We never keep valuables in our cars as they have been broken into several times on the street, when locked. We have reported this incident to the non-emergency police line.

We had the same thing happen late Saturday/early Sunday on NE 44th just west of the park. Thieves broke into both of our cars (even the one in the driveway) looking for valuables.

Both cars were LOCKED, so they must have jimmies or something to get in so quietly.

We, too, keep nothing of value in the cars--they didn't even take a USB charger or ~$10 in change.
