Seattle Parks Conducting Various Surveys

Seattle Parks and Recreation has three surveys going on right now for the public to fill out on-line.

The first survey, available through Monday,  is asking the community to give input on favorite recreation activities in order to make city-wide parks even better.

The second  survey has to do with Seattle Parks recreation gear and gifts and getting feedback on what people think about the idea of selling t-shirts, water bottles, tote bags, field guides, art representing parks, seedlings or plants seen in parks, or other merchandise.

And the third survey, is about Parks' new planning process to develop strategic direction for the future around three key areas: effective resource deployment, public view of the parks system and basic services provided by Parks.

The information says that:
  • The first phase of the plan will be the development of shared Vision, Mission and Values statements.
  • The second phase will be a programmatic review, telling the story of Parks and Recreation: what we do, who we serve, how we are funded. In this phase, Parks will examine emerging recreation trends and the latest census data. We will conduct a statistically valid survey citywide to gather information on how our park system is used, frequency of use and park users’ concerns.
  • Phase three will be a look to the future that provides a framework for a sustainable parks and recreation system.
More information about this plan is available here.
