Northeast Branch Library Seeking Volunteer Gardeners

The Seattle Public Library is looking for volunteer gardeners to help with maintaining the grounds at several branches, including the Northeast branch (6801 35th Avenue NE), starting this month through October.

The information says:

Volunteers will weed gardens, rake leaves and pick up litter.  Rime commitment is flexible. Volunteers can sign up for gardening work parties throughout the summer and fall, or assist with a one-time project. Work parties will be scheduled between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The Library’s Maintenance Supervisor will provide an on-site orientation and work with volunteers. The supervisor will provide gardening tools, gloves and eye protection. Volunteers must be able to use basic hand tools and work safely.

Student volunteers must be at least 15 years old and can get service-leaning hours for graduation requirements.

For more information, contact Anne Vedella, volunteer services coordinator, at anne.vedella@spl.org or call 206-386-4614.
