NE Seattle Public Library Offering Curbside Pick-Up

Starting Wednesday, October 14, the NE Seattle Public Library (6801 35th Avenue NE) will offer curbside pick-up service. It is walkup only (no appointments).


The walk-up service (no appointments) is available Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays from 12-6pm.  - noon to 6 p.m.

NE Seattle and Greenwood branches will offer Curbside Walk-up Pickup Service.  Other Curbside locations will continue to offer patrons the option of picking up their holds from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Patrons can schedule pickup appointments at these locations by app or by phone, or drop by for walkup service.

Also starting on Wednesday, October 14, materials can be returned at all Curbside locations, as well as at five other locations, from 10-6pm.

Free Tax Help At NE Branch Public Library



Starting this week-end, the Northeast Branch (6801 35^th Avenue NE) of the Seattle Public Library, is offering free tax help on Fridays and Saturdays 1-4pm, through mid-April . 

The information says:

The Seattle Public Library and , AARP, are working together to offer free drop-in tax help on a first-come, first-served basis. No reservations or appointments are accepted.  Trained volunteers will be available to answer questions and prepare personal tax returns. 

This service is free and available to individuals, excluding business tax returns. 

Trained volunteers will answer questions and help prepare personal tax returns.  

Due to federal budget cuts, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is unable to provide the Library with certain tax forms and instruction booklets.

Library's Summer "Book Bingo" Starts

Seattle Public Library's Adult Summer Reading Program, for readers 18 and older, launched today with the fourth annual Summer Book Bingo which runs through September 3rd.  

Pick up a Bingo Card at the  Northeast Branch  (6801 35th Avenue NE) or at any other neighborhood library or download a PDF.

Fill in a Bingo Card, by marking an entire row or all 25 squares with the titles and authors of the books you've read, and drop it any branch library, mail it to SAL, 340 15th Ave. E., Suite 301, Seattle, WA 98112, or by posting a photo using #BookBingoNW2017, on Facebook (@SeattlePublicLibrary @SeattleArtsAndLectures), Instagram (@seattleartsandlectures @seattlepubliclibrary) or Twitter (@SeaArtsLectures @SPLBuzzand, and have a chance to win a prize.

For book suggestions, ask a librarian, fill out a brief form at Your Next 5 Books and a librarian will email suggestions, or ask via Twitter (@SPLBuzz) or Facebook.  Library staff will be writing about Book Bingo and recommending books all summer on the Shelf Talk blog.

How to win:

Blackout Card

Complete all 25 squares to be entered in the drawing for a library of books by 2017-18 authors and two tickets to the entire SAL 2017-18 season. Blackout cards will also be automatically entered in the bingo drawing (see below).

Bingo

Complete a horizontal, vertical or diagonal line to be entered into a drawing to win a gift card from one of nine independent book stores. Winning entries will be selected at random. Prizes may be collected at the Library location of your choice. Prizes include gift cards to Elliott Bay Book Company, Madison Books, Phinney Books, Queen Anne Book Company, Ravenna Third Place Books, Secret Garden Books, Seward Park Third Place Books and University Book Store.

Tonight NE Branch Library Seattle Opera Preview Lecture

Tonight at 6pm, the NE Branch (6801 35th Avenue NE) of the Seattle Public Library will host a Seattle Opera Preview Lecture of Bizet’s “Carmen."

Tomorrow Chess Club At NE Branch Library

 

The Northeast branch of the Seattle Public Library (6801 35th Avenue NE) is having its weekly free Chess Club tomorrow from 5:30-7:30pm for kids, families, teens and adults.

The information says:

Come play a game of chess! People of all ages are invited to drop by for fun and casual games of chess. 

Chess puzzles and basic chess instruction also available. All skill levels are welcome. Chess sets and guidance by an adult chess coach will be available.

Saturday Give Input On Public Library Services

The Seattle Public Library is holding a special community conversation with Executive Director and Chief Librarian Marcellus Turner on the topic of helping to shape the future of the library services, on Saturday from 2-3pm at the Northeast Branch Library (6801 35th Avenue NE).
