Beloved Laurelhurst Elementary Teacher Mrs.Kyono Retiring After 25 Years
Ellen Kyono, Laurelhurst Elementary School’s beloved 2nd grade teacher, will be retiring in June, at the end of this school year, after 25 years at Laurelhurst Elementary School.
Mrs. Kyono taught for 4 years at the former Jefferson School and four years at Sand Point Elementary before they closed.
She started at Laurelhurst Elementary in 1986, working first as the computer lab teacher, before joining the second grade teaching team in 1999.
Susan, from Laurelhurst Elementary wrote to us: "Over the years, Ellen taught many Laurelhurst children. She would love to reconnect with them one more time before retirement, either in person at her retirement party on June 13th, or by the submission of a page for her memory book – or both!"
The celebration will be at 3:30pm in the school lunchrom. The invite says that Mrs. Kyono would enjoy seeing students,
parents and staff from the past and present.
There is also a memory book being created with contributions from her students from over the years. If you'd like to submit a page, the instructions say to keep it 8 ½ x 11 to be able to fit in a sheet protector.
Submit your pages to the Laurelhurst School office by June 10th. You can also bring your page to the retirement party if you aren't able to drop it off at the office prior. Here is a sample page.
