Design A Garden You and Your Veggies Will Love




Thinking of growing vegetables in your garden?


Tomorrow morning at the UW Center for Urban Horticulture, Colin McCrate, is having a class that will walk participants through selecting a site, designing a garden, preparing the soil and incorporating sustainable construction materials. He will also suggest crops for a long harvest season and how to take care of your soil for long-term productivity.  Colin will also show how to space plants so they have enough room for growth.
 
Two classes are offered on the topic:
 
Vegetable Garden Design and Construction
Saturday, February 19, 10-12:00pm $45

Vegetable Garden Planning and Planting
Saturday, March 5, 10:00-12:00 pm

Class description:
These classes in a two-part series on home vegetable gardening for beginners, Colin McCrate of the Seattle Urban Farm Company will walk through the basics of setting up a home vegetable garden. Through a mixture of slideshow, lecture, and discussion the class will cover how to select the best site for your garden, how to design your garden, and how to find and use sustainable materials. Also covered will be the basics of garden bed construction and soil preparation.
