NEST (North East Seattle Together) is having an informational meeting tonight at 6pm at University Library. There is also another gathering in Viewridge on January 28th at 7pm to learn more and see how you can get involved.
NEST is "a grass-roots community dedicated to ensuring that as we grow older, we can continue to live safely and confidently in our own homes, in the neighborhoods we love," the website says.
Their mission is to "connect northeast Seattle residents to community resources; and provide social and educational opportunities so that, as they age, members can live confidently in their homes and neighborhoods.
NEST is reaching out to residents in the Bryant, Hawthorne Hills, Inverness, Laurelhurst, Maple Leaf, Matthews Beach, Meadowbrook, Ravenna, Roosevelt, Sandpoint, University District, View Ridge, Wedgwood, and Windermere neighborhoods. The geographic boundaries are east to Lake Washington, north to 110th, west to I-5 and south to the Montlake Cut.
We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization creating a virtual “village,” an innovative, new approach to “aging in community” that is inspiring neighbors to organize, incorporate, and take charge. There are three dozen other villages across the country. We hope to be the first in Seattle!"
They'd also like your input in filling out a survey on what benefits you'd like to receive from NEST.
