Schools First Reception Thursday With William Gates Sr. and Others (Levy Vote Coming Up Soon)

"I am a parent of a first grade student at Laurelhurst Elementary School. I am co-hosting an event for Schools First to support the Seattle School District levy.

Here is the invitation:

Renew your commitment to Seattle's Children
Vote Yes! to renew Seattle School levies –Feb. 9, 2010

Please join us for a reception on Thursday, January 14th, from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. at K&L Gates (924 Fourth Ave.) in support of Schools First.
William H. Gates Sr., Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn, and School Board President Michael DeBell will be the featured speakers at the event.

On February 9, 2010, voters within the Seattle School District will be asked to replace two expiring levies and to continue essential funding for public schools.

The operations levy funds 23 percent of Seattle School District's operating budget.
It helps to pay for:
Teachers
Librarians
Counselors
Textbooks
Bilingual & Special Education Specialists

The six-year capital levy will fund important safety health and maintenance improvements and academic and technology updates to Seattle public schools.
