Home Break-In Possibly By Masked Men

The Laurelhurst Blog received this information:

Our home was broken into on October 3, in the 4200 block of NE 33rd Street at about 6:30pm, when we were out.   

They broke through the front door (see photo), and the alarm sounded.  They were probably in the house for 60 seconds, and stole 3 laptops.  Our jewelry box was dumped out, but there was nothing taken, since there was nothing valuable. No other valuables were taken.   

A neighborhood man was walking his dog, and saw two African American men wearing ski masks, age 17-25, run away from our porch and up the hill (east) on NE 33rd Street, then turn left (north) on West Laurelhurst Drive. 

 

 

Recent Attempted Burglary On Boulevard

We received this email from a resident on the Boulevard, 43rd Avenue NE:

On March 7th at noon, an attempted burglary was thwarted on the north end of 43rd Avenue NE, thanks to our 18 month old black labrador, Scout. Her incessant barking and growling alerted me to go downstairs, only to find two hooded young men peering in the back glass door and adjacent side window.

The back door was unlocked. I startled them when I walked into the kitchen, and they turned and ran, "high jumping" our 3' wire doggy fence, and heading north up the alley. 

The police have a report, and are encouraging everyone to be careful and vigilant.

East Laurelhurst Drive Home Broken Into On Thursday

We received this email from a reader:

Seems like it is that time of year again....the burglars are back! 

Yesterday a home in the 3300 block of East Laurelhurst NE was broken into sometime between 10:00 am and 1:30 pm. Homeowners had an alarm but had not set it that day.

The burglars forced open the basement door (which had a deadbolt) and stole anything that could fit into a backpack. They stole the backpack itself, went through every room and filled it jewelry, Ipads, headphones, cash, cameras, etc. 

Fortunately, no one was home at the time. The police said that is the time when the break-ins usually happen. So, we are reminded to set our alarms and to be alert to what might happening in the neighborhood.

Contact the police if anyone saw anything suspicious. 

 

Attempted House Break-In Last Week

We received this email from a Blog reader who lives on the corner of 50th Avenue NE and NE 43rd Street:

Some time last week some attempted to break-in our home. A garden shovel was taken from our shed, which has no door, and was used to smash our basement window.  

There was no sign of entry, as the person(s) may have noticed the window has an alarm contact and got spooked. I only noticed the broken window on Friday evening and it could have been broken for several days.
 

Day Time Home Break-In On Saturday

A reader sent us email about a burglary on the 3700 block of 48th Avenue NE this past Saturday about 4:30pm. 

The email says:

The homeowners had only gone out for less than a couple hours and when they returned home the intruders were still in their basement. 

They stole jewelry and credit cards. 

The homeowners would like everyone to know that this happened and to be vigilant about not leaving doors or windows unlocked both during the day and at night.

The homeowers actually had their alarm on but the burglars knew which rooms to go into so as not to set the alarm off.
