May Neighborhood Crime Activity Report

Below is the neighborhood May crime activity . There were almost 50 reports of criminal activity. And over 25 reports of identity theft.

The Laurelhurst Blog checked with SPD why there were so many identity theft reports and a representative told the Blog: "In checking with my Burglary/Theft Unit 26 of those cases were unemployment fraud and are being handled by our Fraud/Forgery/Financial Exploitation Squad in conjunction with State entities."

A neighbor also reported a car prowl to an unlocked car. And the neighbor believes several cars were prowled. A video shows the prowler wearing a mask and cap and a yellow vest. It was reported he was driving in a black SUV with an unknown license plate.

Another neighbor reported a white older style van cruising up and down NE 45th Street near Laurelhurst Elementary School. The van stopped to see who was on the south playground several times. One time the van stopped and got out of his car to approach the teens playing basketball at the playground. The teens took off running when they saw the man approaching.
