Winter Youth Classes At Community Center


Registration is underway for a wide variety of Winter youth classes and programs offered at the Laurelhurst Community Center.

Register online, in-person at the Community Center Monday through Friday 9-2pm or by calling 684-7529.

The Winter 2019 Parks and Recreation Brochure lists all classes and programs at Laurelhurst, Magnuson and Ravenna-Eckstein Community Centers.

Here are the youth classes and programs offered: 

PIANO LESSONS 
Ages 5-16 Private piano lessons are 30 minutes long, and are taught in a relaxed atmosphere tailored to each child’s individual level. YOUTH POTTERY 
Ages 6-18 Youth will create a wide variety of clay projects using pinch pot, coil, and slab hand building techniques, as well as throwing on the wheel. Colorful glazes will complete each masterpiece! Whether you’re experienced or a beginner, bring your imagination and get ready to have fun being creative with clay!

PARKOUR: RUN, JUMP, CLIMB! 
Ages 9-13 Parkour is a movement based discipline focused on connecting jumping, vaulting, and climbing movements to create new pathways over, under and around obstacles in the environment. It’s an accessible, non-competitive sport that turns the world into a playground. Classes are instructionfocused, with plenty of games, obstacle courses, and freeplay thrown in! *Insurance required for this class, please see “Insurance” under General Information section at the back of the brochure.

SEATTLE CUCINA: EAT LIKE AN ITALIAN 
Ages 8-12 This class is the perfect place for a cook with minimal experience but a taste for Italian cuisine. Each week we will whip up a recipe from around the Mediterranean to highlight a particular technique or ingredient. By the end of this 6 week series, students will have the practical skills necessary to begin cooking Italian food at home, and the knowledge necessary to eat in a wholesome, nutritional, and sustainable manner. BALLET 
Ages 5-8 Through an encouraging and super positive environment, dancers will focus on developing their growing vocabulary of basic steps and positions by performing simple combinations both at the barre and in center. This class introduces students to correct posture, proper classroom etiquette, and musicality! Instructor: Annalisa
