Tonight Emergency Preparedness "Stop the Bleed" Meeting At Community Center

The Laurelhurst Community Club (LCC) is holding a special meeting tonight called "Stop the Bleed" from 7-9pm at the Laurelhurst Community Center.

The information says:

  • Be Prepared.
  • Learn how to care for and respond to bleeding injuries in an emergency before first responders arrive.
  • Identify potentially fatal bleeding and how to stop it.

Stop-the-Bleed is a national awareness campaign launched by the White House as a call to action. Stop-the-Bleed is intended to cultivate grassroots efforts that encourage bystanders to become trained, equipped, and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives. Mass casualties can happen at anytime and anywhere. A person who is bleeding can die from blood loss within five minutes.
Maria Paulsen (Harborview's Outreach Coordinator) will teach this class along with Dr. Brian Ross, Dr. Heidi Rogers, and Jessica Chantelois, R.N.
There is no charge to attend but class size is limited. To reserve a spot, please email LCCearthquake@outlook.com and note how many will attend. LEAP will confirm your reservation.

The event is part of LCC's Laurelhurst Earthquake Action Preparedness (LEAP) program initiated by neighbor John Temple, who has partnered with the City and others, in setting up classes for neighbors to learn how to prepare for an earthquake including when it hits what to do, how to get help, how to help others and how to get the neighborhood ready.
