List Of Laurelhurst Community Center Summer Camps


Registration for summer camps at the Laurelhurst Community Center is underway. 

Register online, in-person at the Community Center Monday through Friday 9-2pm or by phone at 684-7529.

The Summer Camps Brochure lists all classes and programs at Laurelhurst, Magnuson and Ravenna-Eckstein Community Centers.

ART CAMPS:
KIDS CARPENTRY CAMP
AGES 5-10
Kids' Carpentry is a hands-on toy building class designed to teach girls and boys practical woodworking skills with an emphasis on the safe use of hand tools. While kids construct fun and exciting projects they are also empowered to become independent thinkers - building confidence, self-esteem, and a repertoire of practical skills that will last them a lifetime! At the end of the session, each child will go home with at least two but often four or more wooden toys or games that they have made and painted by hand. Instructor: Kids Carpentry Staff.

POTTERY CAMP
AGES 6-12
In this class kids will learn pinch-pot, coil, slab, wheel throwing, and glazing techniques. Each day we will introduce new projects, such as musical instruments, undersea creatures, bowls, plates, and more. Bring your imagination and enjoy all the creativity clay has to offer. WRITING CAMPS:
SHORT STORIES
AGES 6-12
Are you the next J.K. Rowling? Would you like to be a published author? After a course with us, you can be. We will show you how to write a story filled with interesting characters, a thrilling plot, vivid description, and exciting dialogue. Then, you will be given the option* to include it within an anthology to be published and available on Amazon. NATURE WRITING
AGES 6-12
During this fun-filled class we’ll explore the outdoors and let nature inspire our writing. Through games and engaging activities, students will learn the key elements of fiction, poetry, and non-fiction writing as they write stories and/or poems about the animals and plants they find through their daily hikes. MIXED UP MYTHOLOGY
AGES 6-12
Mythology is a world onto itself, filled with gods and heroes, mortals, monsters, and supernatural occurrences. You will explore this fascinating world through a literary review of some of the most captivating myths ever told, games, and art inspired by various traditions. Next, you will place yourself in the center of it all as the protagonist of your very own myth, laden with adventure and intrigue. Students will leave with a bound copy of their tale. One on One Basketball’s intensive half-day camps are meant for serious players with team experience. These focused and fast paced sessions are run very similar to high-school level practices. Learn about the science of flight and aviation through the use of unmanned aerial robots or drones. CRAZY CHEMWORKS
