SDOT posted this latest construction news regarding work at the University of Washington Station through Monday:
Weekend Lane Closure: Northbound lane on Montlake Boulevard NE between NE Pacific Street and Place
Sound Transit’s contractors will begin the installation of dewatering wells just north of the UW Station starting tonight at 8pm through Monday at 3pm.
The work requires a northbound vehicle lane and the east sidewalk on Montlake Boulevard NE between NE Pacific Street and NE Pacific Place to be closed. Two way traffic will remain on Montlake Blvd. Expect traffic delays during this work.
Lane closures are needed to prepare for the future retrieval of the tunnel boring machines (TBM) building the extension to the U District, Roosevelt and Northgate neighborhoods.
Construction Activities:
Drilling into the concrete, removing ground material and installing the dewatering well.
Drilling will sound similar to a truck running with occasional hammering sounds.
The vacuum truck will make noise while soil material is being removed.
Drill rigs and support equipment may be temporarily stationed on streets or parking lots overnight during this work.
A generator will be used during the work and for dewatering activities when the TBM arrives.
The dewatering installations are estimated to remain in the area north of the University of Washington Station until early summer.
