Additional Summer Camps Added To Offerings At Laurelhurst Community Center

Registration for summer camps at the Laurelhurst Community Center is underway.  Register online, in-person at the Community Center Monday through Friday 9-2pm or by calling 684-7529.

COMIC BOOKS
Write a book that has never been written before! We will learn how to create amazing comic books without the need for advanced drawing ability. Through photography and graphic
software, you will collaborate to create an original comic, featuring digitized photos of you as a character within the story.  You will learn character and plot creation, scripting, storyboard
development, and more. At the end of class, you will leave with a bound comic book to show off to family and friends.

BROADCAST JOURNALISM
In this exciting course, students will be transformed into reporters to write, design, and bring home an original newspaper. Papers may also be distributed to the school!  Students will learn how to write a range of articles, such as: news items, features, interviews, reviews, letter to the editor, an entertainment section, and advertisements. Student articles will also be sent to CKN News (a partner organization of Young Writers’ Academy) for broadcast consideration on their Time Warner Cable T.V. Show! WRITE A STORY... GET IT PUBLISHED
We will show you how to write a story filled with amazing characters, an exciting plot, great description, and dialogue.  Then, you will be given the option to include it within an
anthology to be published and available on Amazon. What a cool way to stand out on applications and boast to friends!  *Additional $35 fee is required for publication option (includes a copy of book).
