Public Hearing on Seattle’s Police Accountability System Tomorrow

 
Tomorrow at 5:30pm in City Hall Chambers a public hearing on the effectiveness of the City’s police accountability system will be held, starting with public comment at 5pm.

City Council and the Office of Professional Accountability Review Board (OPARB), made up of the Council’s Labor Policy Committee and Public Safety, Civil Rights and Technology Committee, are hosting the in City Hall Chambers on the effectiveness of the City’s police accountability system.

As directed by
Ordinance 122809, adopted in 2008, the hearing will provide a forum for elected officials to hear directly from the public before the City begins labor negotiations with the Seattle Police Officers’ Guild (SPOG). Please participate in this important hearing in advance of the upcoming labor negotiations with the Seattle Police Officer Guild (SPOG).  This hearing is directed by Ordinance 122809, and provides a needed forum for elected officials to hear directly from the public on issues relating to police accountability.  The comments from you, the public, will help inform deliberations with SPOG. 
The comments from the public hearing will help inform deliberations on the upcoming negotiations.
