The Jodi Green and Mike Halperin Children’s Area at the Northeast Library Branch (6801 35th Avenue NE) has re-opened and the recent renovations are nearly complete.
The improvements resulted in a larger children’s area expanding into the previous holds area which has been relocated.
New family seating was created and more filtered Internet computers for children. The new furniture, including tables, various seating pieces and shelves are mobile.
There is also a new general layout in the library. The reference desk area is located now where the public computers are, and all staff service desks and self-checkout area are along one wall on the left as you enter.
The changes, made possible in part from a $100,000 grant from the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation, were based on branch usage, circulation and demographics, and trends in library services.
