Northeast Branch Library New Reduced Hours Starting Monday During Renovation

Beginning Monday, the Northeast Branch of The Seattle Public Library (6801 35th Avenue N.E.) will temporarily reduce its open hours for about four weeks while improvements are made to the branch.

The new hours will be:
§ 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday
§ 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday
§ Closed Friday
§ 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday
§ 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday

Improvements include a larger children’s area expanding into the current holds area which will be relocated, family seating, more filtered Internet computers for children and more self-service checkout stations.

The changes, made possible in part from a $100,000 grant  from thePaul G. Allen Family Foundation, are based on branch usage, circulation and demographics, and trends in library services.

For example, in July, nearly 43 percent of the  branch circulation was specifically for youth materials and programs for youth are generally well-attended.

Work is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

For up-to-date information, call the Northeast Branch at 206- 684-7539 or check the Library website.
