Another "Little Free Library" Pops Up In The Neighborhood

Newest neighborhood Little Free Library at 4742 48th Avenue

The Izzo family at 4742 48th Avenue NE has set up another Little Free Library in the neighborhood and the grand opening will be on Saturday at 2pm.

The invitation says: "Bring a book to leave and go home with a new one to read."

The Moody family set up the first neighborhood Little Free Library in July just a few blocks away.

The Little Free Library movement, whose mission is to "promote literacy and the love of reading by building free book exchanges worldwide," has spread worldwide.
The Izzo family wrote to us about their library:

"It’s a “take a book, return a book” gathering place where neighbors share their favorite literature and stories. In its most basic form, a Little Free Library is a box full of books where anyone may stop by and pick up a book (or two) and bring back another book to share. You can, too!"
Our official registry plaque (we are #10,708 in the world) will arrive in a couple of weeks. These libraries can be found all over the world: Pakistan, Poland and even in Russia.

Our family are avid readers that enjoy sharing our "favorite" books and love the mission behind the Little Free Library movement.
Little Free Library concept is a "take a book return a book" gathering place where neighbors share their favorite literature and stories. In its most basic form, A Little Free Library is a box full of books where anyone may stop by and pick up a book (or two) and bring back another to share.

What I am hoping comes out of this is that this community, my community, sees the beauty in this and how important and valuable this would be in other neighborhoods less fortunate than ours and help me and others start erecting these libraries across this great city.
