Wally was a longtime resident of the Laurelhurst community
and loved and appreciated years of friendship with so many of his neighbors.
He passed away on April 23, 2013.

A friend and previous neighbor sent this email to the Blog:

He was well-known by his former neighbors on NE 44th Street (and beyond) where he grew up and attended Laurelhurst Elementary, Eckstein Middle School, and Roosevelt High School in the 1940s-1950s, then returned and lived most of his adult life in the same house until 2006 when he moved to a condo nearby. He was nominated for and received the Laurelhurst Community Club “Good Neighbor” award in 1998, 1999, 2003, and 2006, which he greatly appreciated.
And another neighbor wrote:

His address was the 4800 block of NE 44th St. It’s on the east side of the park. Neighbors were very tight on that street.
