Video Premiere of “Underage Drinking in Northeast Seattle: A Parent’s Role in Prevention”

Children's Hospital is holding a premiere of a video produced by Prevention WINS coalition members, "A Parent's Role in Prevention" about underage drinking in NE Seattle tomorrow from 6-8:30pm in Wright Auditorium.

The 15-minute video is hosted by KING 5’s Roberta Romero, who is also a Laurelhurst resident, and features interviews of local community members about the problem of underage drinking.

After the video a former NE Seattle high school student will talk about the personal consequences of underage drinking and driving.

And the audience will be able to follow Seattle Police Officer Kipp Strong as he patrols Magnuson Park and discusses his experiences with parties in parks.

Lastly, Dr. Leslie R. Walker, Chief of Adolescent Medicine at Seattle Children’s Hospital, will talk about what parents can do to prevent underage drinking.

There will be a panel discussion following the presentations with Dr. Walker, Officer Strong, Ms. Romero, local teenagers, and coalition members about the story, underage drinking, and the role of parents and community members in preventing underage drinking.

RSVP to Kristine Joy Culala at Kristinejoy.Culala@seattlechildrens.org or call 206-987-5648. Pizza and beverages will be served.
