NE Library Holding Seattle Opera Preview Lecture Tonight On One-act Operas

Seattle Opera Preview Lecture: One-act Operas

The Northeast Branch of the Seattle Public Library is having a free preview lecture with the Seattle Opera on One-act Operas from 6-7:30pm.

The information says:

Join us for a preview lecture of Seattle Opera’s upcoming double bill of one-act operas: Poulenc’s "La Voix Humaine" and Puccini’s "Suor Angica."
Seattle Opera educators will present the hour-long, engaging multimedia lecture that covers the basics of the opera's history, music and stagecraft.

Poulenc’s sensual, captivating 40-minute monodrama depicts a desperate woman, shunned by her lover over the telephone, who stumbles through a minefield of emotions towards an unknown fate. In "Suor Angelica," Puccini explores the despair and ultimate salvation of a woman forced to give up her illegitimate son and become a nun.
