Laurelhurst Elementary Unicycyle Team Performing On Saturday

March 10, 2012 Laurelhurst Unicycle Performance Seattle

The Laurelhurst Elementary Unicycle Performance Team, made up of 23 riders, ranging in age from 3rd to 5th grade has an upcoming show on Saturday at 4pm for the UW Men's Basketball game.

Mr. Roberts, the P.E. teacher, told us that thirteen of the riders have been unicycle team members for 2 or more years, and several have been riding since 1st grade. There are also a few new 5th grade riders who have worked hard to learn to ride and are now part of the performance team.

Mr. Roberts told us that when riders are not practicing for a performance, "you might spot them downhill ski racing or playing volleyball, soccer or basketball. You might also see them on local swim teams and participating in Broadway Bound plays. They are amazing students!"

In a past post we did on the team, Mr. Roberts told us that "the students are also seen daily, in the play court, building their unicycle and juggling skills, and trying new tricks. You may have also seen some of these students riding up the steep hills of Laurelhurst “commuting” to and from school. It really is quite impressive."

The Unicycle Performance team will be doing a second show for a spring Seattle Storm game, their third year performing for the Seattle Storm. The last planned performance is the all-school assembly in June.

"Come out and cheer them on if you can! We would lo ve to see you in the stands!" Mr. Roberts added.
