The Laurelhurst Elementary School Playground Renovation Committee would like to remind everyone that the North Playground of the Elementary School is not quite open yet.
When the fence is removed in the next week or so, the playground will be open to the public. We are told that the bikes and traffic can ruin the newly laid asphalt and interrupt the work.
In addition, the school district has not approved the play system yet and any violations could stand in the way of the approval.
In the last few weeks, a new asphalt surface has been applied as well as lines on the entire playground for handball and kickball.
Last month, a large group of volunteers installed a new ADA compliant addition to the north playground as part of the overall playground renovation going on this summer. Also installed was an ADA ramp and ADA chips have been put down in the play structure area.
