Hospital Construction Activities This Week

Here are the activities taking place this week at the hospital construction site:

Building Exterior Cladding
At the North side of the building, where the manlift previously was located, crews will complete the building’s exterior. At elevator 8, near the Giraffe entrance, exterior framing has begun.

Building Interior Work
Crews are onsite installing the metal stud-framed walls and gypsum wallboard that make up most of the interior partitions. They are also running duct work for the air handling units which have been installed, and running conduit for all of the power and lighting systems. Crews are also installing the fire sprinklers on all of the floors. Besides these basic systems, we have a pneumatic tube system, medical gas systems, and many low voltage wiring systems for all of the specialty equipment.

Vibratory Rolling
There will be some necessary soil compacting activities for site work that includes regrading, adding retaining walls, and a new site elevator between the parking lot and the Giraffe entrance and the new surface parking lot. The compacting will cause vibrations in the surrounding area and will be ongoing with the greatest impact occurring in the next two to three weeks. The site preparation will make way for the landscaping, surface parking lot, and circulation that will be installed over the coming months.

Street Improvement Work
Sellen crews will complete the sidewalk at 40th Ave NE and Sand Point Way NE by the end of this week. This work involves heavy equipment to remove sections of the sidewalk and concrete trucks to place the new driveway concrete.

Sellen crews have begun work to the Hartmann Building frontage. Storm pipe installation, drive and sidewalk concrete pours, and tree removal will continue through the month of August. This work involves heavy equipment to remove sections of the sidewalk and concrete trucks to place the new driveway concrete.

ADJACENT ACTIVITIES:

Installation of New Gas Line
PSE has begun replacing the gas main along Sand Point Way NE. They’ve started at each end of 45th and 52nd and are working to connect the gas lines. PSE’s subcontractor InfraSource is working at night, between 7pm and 5am. This work is not related to Building Hope but the new main will tie into the new line already placed in 40th Ave NE. Any questions regarding this work should be directed to Sharon Seitz at (206) 948-0971.
