Laurelhurst Community Club's Annual Meeting Tomorrow Evening

The Annual Neighbor's Meeting, hosted by the Laurelhurst Community Club, is tomorrow from 6:45 - 8:45pm at the Community center.

Here is the agenda:

6:45 Reception: Visit with neighbors and enjoy coffee and cookies.

7:00 Welcome and Community Club Business:
  • Welcome, Jeannie Hale, LCC President
  • Treasurer's Report, Emily Dexter
  • Nominating Committee Report, Emily Dexter
  • Election of Trustees
7:15 Design History of the Battelle Property (Talaris):
David C. Hoedmaker, FAIA and Richard Haag, FASLA, Hon. AIA. Learn about the architectural and landscape history of the 18-acre Battelle property from the original design professionals. 

7:50 Traffic Calming, Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Options:
Jim Curtin, Community Traffic Liaison, Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT).  Learn about the options neighbors can pursue from SDOT.

8:10 Laurelhurst Safe Streets Project:
Kevin Chang, LCC Transportation Committee and Project Chair. Neighbor suggestions on pedestrian and bicycle safety projects and traffic calming projects taken and discussed 

8:20 Union Bay Natural Area-Update:
Dr. Kern Ewing. Learn about the many changes at the UW Botanical Gardens, the Yesler Swamp project and the many opportunities for neighbor involvement.

8:45 Meeting ends

The invites says: "The LCC annual meeting is an opportunity to visit with neighbors and board members. The LCC Board of Trustees works to promote the interests and issues of neighbors."
LCC holds its monthly board meetings on the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Wu HsingTao School,  located on the Talaris campus (4000 NE 41st St., Building D, Suite 1).

The meeting last night was so informative. Thank you to your speakers. Each were very interesting. I particularly enjoyed hearing about the history of the now Talaris Institute site and update on the Yesler Swamp. Too bad more neighbors did not attend! Thank you for your time and neighborhood updates.
