Children's Hospital Holds Dedication Ceremony Yesterday On Construction Site
Yesterday, Seattle Children’s Hospital hosted a site dedication ceremony, including a multi-faith blessing, on their construction site, formerly Laurelon Terrace Condominiums.
The site dedication included displays showing the interior and exterior spaces of the new hospital buildings, singing by the choir from Daniel Bagley Elementary School, a blessing ceremony by the hospital’s pastoral care team and other spiritual leaders and over events.
The invitation only event was attended by selected invitees, patients and their families, the media, Children’s staff, Senator Scott White, Children’s CEO Dr. Tom Hansen, project partners Sellen Construction, ZGF Architects LLP and the Seneca Group.
The foundation for the first phase of new buildings will be poured later this month. In August, structural steel work will begin. And in October exterior and interior infrastructure development starts.
The first phase of the expansion is expected to open for service in 2013, according to Kathy Porada, Seattle Children's Public Relations Manager.
