Laurelhurst Couple's Business to Be Featured on ABC's The Doctors Tomorrow

Tune in tomorrow at 11am on Channel 4 to see a Laurelhurst couple's business, SwaddleDesigns, feautured on ABC’s Emmy Award winning show, The Doctors.

Lynette Damir and her husband, the founders, have lived in Laurelhurst for over 10  years with their family.

They started Swaddle Designs in 2002 and the headquarters are behind the Univeristy Village.  There are 15 employees and Lynette tells us that not one was laid off during the economic down turn.

The inspiration for SwaddleDesigns started when Lynette visited families and was always asked how to make a good swaddle when seeing families struggle with doing it on their own, either because the blanket was too small or it was hard to remember how to make a good swaddle.

Lynette used her medical background as an RN at Swedish Hospital as well as her education from the Art Institute of Seattle to develop the Ultimate Swaddling Blanket - large and square with swaddling instructions sewn to the edge of the blanket. SwaddleDesigns' first customer was a major hospital that purchased 4,000 blankets.

Lynette told us that they just introduced Adult Swaddles this fall. These are a throw size plush blanket and she said "they are flying out the door!"

SwaddleDesign products, with the majority sewn in Seattle, are available nearby at City Peoples, as well as Kids Club, Village Maternity and Land of Nod in the University Village. Nordstrom also carries the products and the entire collection (over 600 items) is available directly on the website.
