Laurelhurst Mom Teaching Art Classes at the Community Center

Katrina Strand, who lives in Laurelhurst, would like to let the neighborhood know that she is very excited about her upcoming art classes she is teaching for kids from 18 months to 5 years old.

The series of art classes called Create Art With Kids, is 10 weeks long and is being held at the Laurelhurst Community Center.

She says that the 18 months-3 years old class has just a few spots left and the 3-5 year old class has plenty of space for more kids.  Both classes start this week.

Katrina double-majored in Fashion Design and Apparel Merchandising and holds degrees from Purdue and the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. She has an art minor from Purdue and has taught art to young children while in High School and College. She currently stays home with her two young children.

Here is the list of classes Katrina is teaching:

18 months to 3 year olds
This will be a fun 10 week multimedia (print-making, sculpture, etc.) introduction to art and its different forms. Parents or caregivers are required to attend this class with their children. Class will be Friday's from 10-10:45 am starting September 17th and Ending December 10th (no class on 10/8,11/12, 11/26). #62023 $69

3-5 year olds
This class will be a multimedia (print-making, sculpture, etc.) exploration that takes kids on a journey to discover art and its different forms while introducing students to infuential artists and eras. Parents are not required to attend this class. If you have a child in pre-K at Laurelhurst and another that is older there, this might be a great time filler for your child while waiting for thier older sibling to get out of school. Class will be Wednesday afternoons from 2-2:45 pm starting September 15th and ending December 1st (no class on 11/10, 11/24). #62024, $69
