Several readers wrote in to us asking about the very loud booms that happened around 1:45pm yesterday that were heard across the city and beyond.
In case you hadn't heard yet, those were sonic booms from the Air National Guards two military F-15 jets that scrambled from Portland after Presidential Air Force One airspace was violated by a small plane returning from Chelan and landing in Kenmore, according to the Seattle Times.
One of our staffers was at the Beach Club and said some kids came running up from the beach to their parents asking what the booms were. And others quickly stood up and went out on the dock looking around to try and figure out what the extremely loud booms were.
A reader wrote in that a tshirt is now being sold to commemorate the booms yesterday.
The tshirt description says:
