NE 45th Street Viaduct 30% Complete
SDOT sent out an update on the NE 45th Street viadcut with the news that the walls of the new structure are more than
30% and the target date for re-opening the bridge of September 10th is still on track.
The new Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) wall structure will replace the west approach of the NE 45th Street. MSE is soil constructed with artificial reinforcing. The reinforcing elements generally contain steel and geosynthetics.
Also 22nd Avenue NE to NE 45th Street will reopen in early August with repaving of the intersection in late July. It was closed to to complete the installation of a combined sewer overflow system.
