Comments Due Thursday On Sand Point Neighborhood Signs

One of our readers wrote in to us to let the community know that if you are interested in providing input to the City on proposed additional signs leading to neighboring Sand Point district comments are due Thursday by 5pm.

"Maybe someone will get motivated to get involved with this issue. It would be nice to have small tasteful signs out there!" the reader told us.

Here is the information provided by the Deparrtment of Planning and Development.

"The Department of Parks and Recreation is proposing to amend the Land Use Code (Title 23) to allow for an increase in the number of signs permitted in the Sand Point Overlay zone. The amendment would expand the number and type and increase the size of on-premises signs permitted within the Sand Point Overlay Zone, and provide standards for the lighting of signs.  The proposal would allow off-premises directional signs and ˜Sand Point District" Signs (in lieu of business district identification signs) which may list the names of organizations and businesses within sub-districts or buildings within the Overlay Zone. The proposal would also allow sign kiosks within the Sand Point Overlay district.

ENVIRONMENTAL DETERMINATION

After review of a completed environmental checklist and other information on file, DPD has determined that the amendments described above will not have a probable significant adverse environmental impact, and has issued a Determination of Non-Significance under the State Environmental Policy Act (no Environmental Impact Statement required).
