Applications for Small and SImple Fund Due Monday

Monday is the deadline to apply for a grant from the City's Small and Simple Fund, part of the Department of Neighborhoods Matching Fund Program.

Last August, in the last round of awards, the Laurelhurst Park Playgrounnd renovation (Design Phase) was awarded a matching grant of $15,00.  The community match was $10,420.

Play it Safe at Laurelhurst Playground, the formal name of the project, is still underway and the formal description submitted to the city is to "maximize the City's allocated $400,000 allocated for a new playground equipment." And to "establish the needs/wants of the community, participate in community outreach, hire a designer and decide on the final design for new playground equipment."

Applicatin for the Small and Simple Fund is open to neighbor, community and business groups who are interested in building stronger connections in the neighborhood. The projects need to demonstrate how they will build  healthier and stronger community by providing a public benefit and being free to everyone and also demonstrate very important community match.

More information can be found on the Department of Neighborhoods website.
