Annual Salmon Bake Thursday And Other Community Center News

The Salmon Bake and carvival, a fun family event, is this Thursday from 6-8pm at the Laurelhurst park. It is put on by the Laurelhurst Community Center with co-sponsors Metropolitan Market and Great Harvest Bread Company.

It's a popular neighborhood event with a kids carnival, including bouncy houses, face painting, lots of fun games and prizes, live music with Anzanga Marimba Ensemble, and of course salmon dinners.

Salmon plates are $10 for adults and $7 for kids and feature alder-smoked salmon, coleslaw, watermelon, a roll, and a beverage.

Also available will be garden burgers for $7 and hot dogs for $5 also with sides.

Carnival tickets are $.25 each.

Volunteers are needed between 4-10pm for serving dinners, manning the various kids' carnival booths and cleaning up.  Contact the Community Center at 684-7529 if you can help out.

Also Tuesday morning from 10:30-11:30 is Children's storytime at the Community Center.

Dena's theme for this week is "Fabulous Frogs." Kids will learn about the lifecycle of frogs, play musical lily pads, make wide mouth frogs, and color frog puzzles.  There is a $2 fee to cover the crafts.

And check out the Summer Guide put together by Seattle Parks and Recreation covering all Community Center events city-wide of which many are free.
