Original Red Robin Slated to Close in Two Weeks

This is not in our neighborhood, but close...... just on the other side of the University Bridge and an interesting story passed along to by one of our readers.

In case you haven't heard, the oldest Red Robin in the chain located at 3872 Furman Avenue East, is slated to close March 21st after 40 years of service at this location.

And it's quite a good location for a chain restaurant, with a great view of the lake.

Keith Leeman, a Seattleite, and frequent visitor to the restaurant, has set up a Facebook page to try and save the restaurant.

It says, "If you are equally devastated, please join the group and send a message to Red Robin to keep the hope alive!"

So far it has 3,117 members!

The original structure was built in 1916, and according to the Seattle PI blog is in much need of repair, "Red Robin said its decision to close the Eastlake location was driven by the need for "considerable investment to maintain the building and make the restaurant more efficient from an operations perspective and more comfortable and convenient for guests," according to a news release.

The Eastlake Ave Blog was the first to cover this story then it was picked up by about 15 news outlets, all listed on the Facebook page.
