Some Crime Report Stats for the Neighborhood

Cary Pillo, Crime Prevention Coordinator for Laurelhurst Community Club, has sent us some stats covering the last few months.

"We just received the year end stats from SPD. Car prowls are a problem in our neighborhood, as well as the rest of the city. We had 24 car prowls reported for 2009 and have already had a report of one occurring on Jan 3. An Ipod, sunglasses and bag of candy were stolen. We have been advised to take everything out of your car - even during the day.

The hot items to steal: GPS units, Ipods, Laptops and radios. One woman told me her car was prowled during the day while she was parked near Zoka. They took $1.00 that was visible.

During November and December, Laurelhurst had several residential burglaries and one attempted burglary.

The good news is that someone reported a suspicious vehicle in the November burglaries. SPD put out a bulletin, the car was stopped and one suspect arrested. The other suspect took off running but has been identified. It will only be a matter of time before he is also arrested. They are suspects in several other burglaries in the surrounding area.

Always file a police report. For non-emergencies and to file a report call 625-5011.

Thank -you Seattle Police for some great work."
