Suspicious solicitors

The last few weeks have brought some interesting solicitors to the streets. Most notably is a young, 30ish clean cut white male, with blonde hair in a white polo shirt with GE on it apparently tryinig to sell security systems. He asks among many other questions -"how do you like your alarm service?" or "do you have an alarm service?" He asked one female when her husband would be home. Some accounts say he carries a laminated badge and has a permit registered with the city, others think his credentials are not legitimate.

Neighbors have said this person can be quite aggressive, persistent and almost rude in trying to get answers. He has been seen all over the city soliciting for the alarm company, Platinum Security Systems, and he and perhaps others with him are believed to be out of Utah.

Here is some info that appeared in the Beacon Hill Blog.

Another article in the NY Times titled Mormons Sell Security Instead of Salvation describes this soliciting is happening on a nationwide scale and that the salesmen are former Mormon missionaries from Utah. This has not been verified for the salesmen seen all over the Seattle area.

Some suggestions from neighbors - there is no obligation to answer questions, request to see the City license, get an automobile license number, and call the Police if you feel uneasy of the activity.
